At ACCT, we are dedicated to providing legal advocacy for foster children in Mid-Missouri. Our committed attorneys advocate for dozens of abused and neglected children in foster care, acting as their guardians ad litem. ACCT attorneys fight for each child to receive the best possible outcome as quickly as possible.
Whether in the court, school, or community setting, ACCT attorneys go above and beyond advocating for the best interests of the children they serve. Their goal is to ensure children are safe, essential services are delivered, and a forever home is found as soon as possible.
Our Vision
ACCT’s vision is a system that protects and empowers children by providing them with nurturing, forever homes secured by authentic connection between youth and their families, role models, peers and their community. Foundational to establishing connections is forceful legal advocacy that shatters barriers to building permanent connection.

Foster care is full of resources and promises—but too often, the gap between what’s supposed to happen and what actually happens is wide. Advocacy is the bridge. We step in to make sure services get delivered, voices are heard, and systems follow through. While others provide therapy, housing, or case management, our role is to ensure those services reach the children who need them—without delay, and with relentless follow-up. Advocacy isn’t just helpful. It’s essential.

Our work changes lives. Because of our advocacy, children get placed with relatives instead of strangers. They get into school faster, receive the mental health care they need, and are reunited with family—or adopted into safe, permanent homes—sooner. Our attorneys uncover missed opportunities, correct dangerous oversights, and push for decisions that prioritize a child’s future over bureaucracy. ACCT was founded in 2023 by a group of child welfare volunteers who saw, firsthand, how often the needs of children in foster care went unmet. They recognized that children truly needed was someone with the training, authority, and commitment to stand up for them—loudly and effectively.
From that vision, ACCT was born: a legal advocacy organization devoted to ensuring that every child in foster care has a highly trained attorney fighting for their best interests. Our founders understood that real change happens when someone is not just present, but empowered to hold systems accountable and demand better. That’s what we do—every day, for every child we serve.
